Meet the Play & Learn Team

Wendy Bell
Owner since 2013

Wendy has been the owner of Play & Learn Early Childhood Center since 2013.  She is an ISU graduate who has lived, worked, and raised children in Ames for over 30 years. Wendy received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Reading Endorsement from ISU.  She is a NAC certified Early Childhood Education Program Administrator.  “My goal is to offer a family atmosphere in a center environment.  My staff and I strive to provide quality care as well as be a support and resource for families in our community.”

 

 

Tina Lykins
Director

Tina has worked at Play & Learn since 2013.  Since then, she has held the roles of assistant teacher, as well as lead teacher in twos, fours, and school age.  She was promoted to Assistant Director in 2017 and in August of 2020 took on the role of Director here at Play and Learn. Tina attended ISU with a psychology major. She currently holds a Certifcate of Specialization in Early Childhood Education as well as a Certificate of Specialization Early Childhood Program Administration.

Rebecca Steig
Assistant Director

Rebecca has worked at Play & Learn Early Childhood Center since 2016.  She has been an assistant teacher, a lead teacher in toddlers and twos, curriculum coordinator and currently holds the position the Assistant Director Position at Play and Learn. Rebecca received her associate art’s Degree in Elementary Education from Iowa Central in December 2020. Rebecca is now pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Iowa State University and is especially interested in working with children who have special needs.

Taylor Rood
Curriculum Coordinator

Taylor has worked at Play & Learn since 2018. She has been an assistant teacher in every classroom, she took her role of Curriculum Coordinator in August of 2021.  Taylor holds a bachelors degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services from Iowa State University. Taylor loves to work with children because of how goofy and care free they are, it keeps her young.
